The United States Trichology Institute (USTI) is a school that teaches trichology, the study of the hair and scalp, and scalp health to hairstylists, barbers, cosmetologists and other beauty and health professionals.

The trichology pathway (Hair Loss Practitioner, then Associate Trichologist, then Clinical training). The Scalp Health & Hair Care Science Certification, an eleven-module scalp health and haircare certification program worth 10 Continuing Education credits. Barber trichology courses. Online at your own pace and live virtual classes with USTI educators. The Hair Loss Practitioner course is a 2 day live virtual class.

Certification exams are offered through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA). AMCA is an independent certification organization. It is not the American Medical Association. The AMCA Associate Trichologist Certification exam is 100 questions over 2 hours, and the AMCA Trichologist Certification exam is 200 questions over 3 hours 30 minutes.

USTI education is non-medical. Graduates learn to recognize changes in the hair and scalp, support clients with education and cosmetic care, and refer to a physician when something needs a medical opinion. Trichologist is not a state-licensed medical title in the United States, and hands-on services follow each state's cosmetology or barber rules.
